In the Latin, Extradition means “delivering up from out,” which is exactly what we do: searching out experimental compositions from past and present, near and far, and performing them for our concert audiences.

Our new series, Intradition, flips that script, offering a forum where anyone can participate, delivering up the music inside them in a welcoming space.

Presented on an ad-hoc basis between our regular seasonal programming, Intradition will vary by date, with some events dedicated to improvisation, some dedicated to realizing participatory compositions, some being outdoor sound-walks, etc.

The rules are the same for all:

1. All are welcome - to play, to listen, or both

2. Music's soul is free, but freedom's twin is responsibility

3. Shhh: the neighbors might be sleeping

Intradition events charge no admission, but donations are appreciated to help cover venue rental.

INTRADITION 01 will take place on Sunday, December 6, 2026, 7pm, at Leaven Community, 5431 NE 20th Avenue @ Killingsworth, Portland, OR. The evening will be devoted to improvisation. Acoustic instruments are preferred, but we will have a few extension cords on hand to accommodate instruments needing amplification.
